Denise Howitt is a passionate health and safety professional with nearly 25 years of experience focussed on health and safety management systems, legislative compliance, risk assessment and injury prevention. She is a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) and a Canadian Risk Manager
Denise and her small team of specialists at the University of Calgary influence and guide university processes and practices by bringing a systematic approach to managing EHS performance and compliance. Prior to joining the university, Ms. Howitt worked as a health and safety consultant
providing services to provincially and federally regulated clients in multiple industries including health care, construction, trades, manufacturing, oil and gas, property management, wholesale and retail operations, engineering, aviation, agriculture, warehousing, food processing, staffing, trucking, municipalities, and educational institutions.
Denise loves to share her passion for health and safety with others and has made lifelong friends through volunteering. She is a founding member and current Treasurer of The Women in Occupational Health and Safety Society (WOHSS), an organization dedicated to building better futures for women working in OH&S roles through education, mentorship and networking. She is also a Director for the Alberta Association for Safety Partnerships (AASP).
